The key was that in the Prepare the Boot Image experiment, I needed to delete the system_wrapper.bit file under the Boot Image Partitions and replace it with my.bit file from my original project. This approach does not load from flash, but it does allow the platform to boot without JTAG.

Since I got an RTL-SDR a few weeks ago, I've been looking for a simple solution to 'scan' multiple frequencies and demodulate frequencies to audio if a signal is found - essentially what a traditional hardware scanner would do. The police in my area use an EDACS system, but the actual talk channels aren't digitally encoded, they're just narrow FM, and they all fit in a single 3.2mHz window, so it seems like it would be pretty simple to monitor the whole spectrum and switch automatically to the frequencies that have activity.

There is a plugin for SDR# that does this - it doesn't work very well, and I mostly use my RTL-SDR on a Mac. Does anyone know of a gnuradio based script that does this? Ideally, I'd like to just define about 10 frequencies in an input file, and the scanner would switch constantly between them looking for a signal above a specified power level. I've found a number of 'frequency scanners' (eg. gr-scan) but they are geared towards scanning over a continuous range of signals and outputting values for producing a graph, not 'scanning' in the sense I want.

UPDATE - found a very simple solution; the basic rtl_fm utility can scan multiple frequencies, you just have to define a squelch level! Eg.

rtl_fm -f 866250000 -f 867500000 -f 867750000 -m fm -l 60

Got my Raspberry Pi scanning!
